The aim of the UNSOC Course is to train military, police and civilian HQ personnel in the West Africa region able to man/support the ECOWAS Standby Force HQ (mobile HQ). All members of a Mission HQ have to be trained on planning purposes and preparing a decision making process. Course Rational
The main aim of civilian, police and military peacekeepers training is to provide participants with realistic insight on the conceptual and institutional frameworks of multidimensional PSO, cross-cutting issues and an overview of core functional areas, in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of all the components in a multidimensional PSO. For pre-deployment training, the main aim is to equip participants with knowledge and skills required for successful mandate implementation in missions. Component pre-deployment training is also aimed at turning professional capable officers into competent peacekeepers.

Overall Course Aims
The Course aims at enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of UN, Regional, Sub-regional, National and other institutions to perform peace operations, through building individual skills properly reflecting new developments in Stabilisation and Reintegration (S&R).
The aim of the course is to enhance integrated planning and better coordination of activities and challenging situations that require appropriate interaction between the Military, Police and Civilian components in a United Nations peace operation.
The aim of the Course is to Manage the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus in conflict and post-conflict settings in Africa and to enhance the capacity of humanitarian, development and peace actors to work more coherently in attaining sustainable peace in conflict and post-conflict settings in Africa.
At the end of the Course, participants should be able to:
a. Establish the foundation for understanding of the character of conflicts in Africa and introduce them to the HDP Nexus.
b. Familiarise participants with the frameworks for HDP cooperation and coordination.
c. Familiarise participants with approaches for determining collective outcomes through joint analysis.
d. Manage the implementation of the HDP Nexus
