Both of these teams will be seeking to retro bowl win their first bowl game in 35 years. When the two teams competed against one another in the Fiesta Bowl for the last time in 1974, the San Francisco 49ers, who were then known as the 49ers, went on to win their first championship by defeating the Buffalo Bills in their original form by a score of 7-0. In 1936, the Buffalo Bills won their first and only National Football League championship, achieving a perfect 7-0 record in the process. This victory came before the 49ers won their first NFL championship.
